Returning to Work - June 1st

We at Almaden Dental Associates are taking epic measures to ensure the safety our patients staff and doctors. During the Shelter in Place working daily with Local and National Dental Societies, the CDC, and the State and Local Departments of Public Health to resume seeing patients.

Last night (May 7) the California Department of Public Health released updated guidance on Resuming California's Deferred and Preventive Dental Care. It outlines guidance for PPE, training staff in PPE and office equipment use and office work patterns. While the document states that routine cleanings are preventive and may be considered, appropriate procedures must be identified and aerosol- producing procedures should be limited and devices used to mitigate aerosol production. All staff and patients, regardless of treatment need, must be screened for COVID-19 symptoms.

To be clear, local orders prevail if they are more restrictive than state guidance. At this writing, although Santa Clara County and the state include dental care as an essential health service, Santa Clara County's May 5 order also includes an advisory to dental providers to continue providing only emergency care. This is because the County is prioritizing the healthcare delivery system for those who are sickest and, thus, prioritizing the use of resources, such as PPE, which we all know is in short supply.  The strictest of the rules will prevail.

Santa Clara's Shelter in place rule is in force till June 1st which is our soft date to return to treating non life threatening emergencies and some prevtative care.  Because of the new safety measure implemented,  our capacity to see patients has diminished as longer appointment times will be required to ensure the safety of all.  We will be prioritizing the non life threatening emergencies and working extra hours to accomidate your emergencies.

The Staff at Almaden Dental Associates stand united to return.  We miss our patients. Stay Safe and we will see you soon.
